3 Beautiful Garden Flowers to Brighten any Backyard
Walking through the garden you can get carried away easily with all the things that need to be done. But sometimes, it’s enough just to enjoy what’s growing.
This post is to give love to a few beautiful flowers blooming in the garden, no deep dives, and minimal growing tips, just some photos and small notes on what I love about each one.
Artichoke
When I hear artichoke, I don’t immediately think of the flower but what a beauty it is if you let her bloom.
I had my artichoke plants for the first season and only four of them. Unsure where to plant them I put them in big growing bags (10 gallon). I did not expect anything in the first year, especially with the restricted growing space. But they surprised me with a gorgeous flower.
Petunia
A classic staple to bring beauty to the garden. Before planting petunia, I will admit I had a bit of an old-fashioned image of this flower. I got a six-pack of purple petunia at the nursery and tucked them in the garden wherever I found space. The white petunia I grew from seeds I saved from a flower I had the previous season. And off they went. Especially when regularly dead heading the flowers, the plant will just keep blooming with minimal care.
Nasturtium
Another garden classic and well known as a companion plant in the vegetable garden. They can help with pest control and attracts beneficial insects. The flowers bloom in beautiful, vibrant colours and are edible (with a peppery taste).
There’s something grounding about taking a moment to notice what’s blooming. These three have brought color and joy to my garden.
